Overview
Engelmann Spruce is a beautiful high-elevation conifer found primarily between 9,000 and 12,000 feet. It has a narrow, conical crown and bluish-green needles. This species often grows intermixed with Subalpine Fir in Colorado's high country. Like Subalpine Fir, it struggles at lower elevations and is not well-suited to most landscape situations.
